The Raleigh Family

Invictus Emergo

Dear family,

I made it to the MTC safely and I can only write on Mondays for like 30 min. The MTC is awesome. My companion’s name is Elder Clawson and we're getting along awesome. I have the best district in the MTC. There are 5 elders and 2 sisters but one of the sisters is leaving tomorrow.

I'm learning Portuguese pretty well. I’ve taught two lessons in it already. We had to teach in our languages our second day here so it was pretty intense. We pretty much have to teach someone every day that we’re here. So I think that I’m going to learn a lot.

I watched a talk by Elder Bednar Last night that taught about the character of Christ. It’s considered by many as the best MTC talk ever given. I learned so much from it that I can’t really summarize it correctly. I would tell you to watch it but it’s only available to missionaries. But the character of Christ is to always look outward to others. Paul said when I am weak I am strong and elder Bednar taught us that this is because if when we are in our weakest moments and we choose to only serve others and not ask for pity on ourselves then the lord will give us strength. He also taught that when we lost our selves in the service of others then is when the lord will show us who we really are. I wish you guys could see the talk because I can't really explain it very well.

Anyway, how is everything back home?

I miss you guys and it would be cool if you guys wrote me some dear elders or something.

Oh also I met a sister whose name was sister McKay and I asked her if she was related to David o. McKay and she was so we’re related! I got a picture with her. Oh speaking of pictures I don’t know yet how I’m going to send pictures home but hopefully I’ll figure it out soon. Also can you send me a 32g memory card while I’m here in the MTC because I don’t know how long I’m going to be here?

I know that I’m here in Provo for a reason and all of my district feels the same way. I've learned a lot so far and I’m looking forward to learning so much more.

I miss you all and love you all. Can't wait to hear from you.

Amor,

Elder Raleigh
